Eddie Dean (Sonny) Havranek was born Aug. 18, 1939, to Edward and Anna (Classen) Havranek at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Lynch.
On Aug. 6, 1960, he was united in marriage to Karen Kay Bowers of Bristow, at the Trinity Lutheran Church and just celebrated their 51 anniversary. To this union three children were born; Nicole Kay, Kirk Thomas and Tiffany Kay.
Sonny graduated from Spencer High School in 1956 and worked for Dr. J.C. Marcum; did some road construction and then returned to the family farm north of Spencer. While working on the farm he started, Bowers Grain and Trucking and Havranek Plumbing.
In 1978 Sonny and Karen purchased the Lightfoot Ranch by Bristow. Sonny enjoyed his ranching, farming, the cup of coffee with his friends and playing pool at the Boyd County Senior Center on a daily basis. All three of his children participated in sports in the Spencer High School and Spencer-Naper School sports activities which he enjoyed following. Over many years he enjoyed coaching baseball from t-ball to legion baseball. He also enjoyed watching the New York Yankees on TV and was fortunate to get to see them play at Yankee Stadium on July 7, 2011. In his spare time in the fall he enjoyed traveling to Lincoln to watch the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Sonny was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Garfield Lodge, past board member of the Village of Spencer, current president of the Spencer Township Board and member of Boyd County Weed Board.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial be gifted to the Trinity Lutheran Church of Bristow, Spencer Volunteer Rescue Unit or any favorite charity.
Dear Dad
As I sit under this tree
I know you are set free
You got the real deal
Heaven is for real
Your time with us was not long enough
But now know Mom is tough
You listened to me when I was down
And you always made me feel like I wore a crown
You taught me lots about farm life
From raking hay, feeding cows, pulling calves, riding horses and motorcycles and how to make a great wife
I am so happy you got to spend your last winder
feeding cows and driving around in that big green tractor
My heart is broke but will heal with time
You better be waiting at heaven's gate when it's my time
I Love you Dad
Tiffany
________
This is my Dad
My Dad is a person
who is loving and supportive,
and he knows the right way.
He's someone who listens, defends and suggests. He is my best
friend!
He's proud of our accomplishments, but when things go wrong,
my Dad can be patient
(sometimes J) and helpful and
strong willed.
Everything I do,
my Dad's love plays a part.
There's always a place concreted
deep in my heart.
As each day passes,
I'm ever so glad
and fortunate and proud
to call him my Dad!
Thank you Dad, I miss you
already!
Thank you for loving, caring and sharing, and especially
for just being You!
I Love You
Kirk
