The O'Neill Eagle girls had their hands full last Saturday when they faced off against four tough competitors that day. Their first match was against the Elkhorn Valley Falcons in the Elkhorn Valley Tournament. The Eagles were able to snag the win in three sets 2-1: 26-24, 16-25 and 25-15. Wreece Liewer led the Eagles with 14 kills, one block and 12 digs; Autumn Hilker seven kills, two ace serves, one block, 11 digs and 1 set assist; Olivia Young six kills, one ace serve, one block and nine digs; Ashley Sidak three kills, two ace serves, one block and seven digs; Haley Schluns one kill, two digs and three set assists; and Keeley Chavez one ace serve, 10 digs and 27 set assists. The Eagles then faced off against the St. Paul Wildcats in the tournament. This match didn't go quite as well for the Eagles, losing in two sets 2-0: 15-25 and 10-25. Leading the Eagles was Liewer again with five kills, one dig, five digs and one set assist; Hilker three kills and four digs; Young three kills and one dig; Schluns one ace serve, one dig and two set assists; Sidak five digs; and Chavez eight set assists. Facing off against the Randolph Cardinals gave the Eagles the opportunity to show off their skills in a close 2-1 win in three sets, 22-25, 25-11 and 25-17. Leading the Eagles for the third time was Liewer with 12 kills and 10 digs; Young seven kills, eight digs and one set assist; Hilker four kills, one ace serve; Sidak four kills and eight digs; Schluns one kill, four ace serves, seven digs and two set assists; and Chavez six digs and 22 set assists. The Eagle's last match on Saturday against resulted in another victory for their opponent. The Archbishop Bergan Knights downed the Eagles in two sets 2-0: 11-25 and 6-25. Liewer yet again led the Eagles with three kills, one block and four digs; Hilker one kill, one ace serve, two digs and one set assist; Sidak one kill and two digs; Young one kill and one dig; Bergyn Classen one block and three digs, Schluns one dig and one set assist; Keeley Chavez four digs and four set assists; and Serena Chavez two digs.
