The OHS Eagles had a tough time last week, going up against Plainview and Ord. The first game was a close match-up against Plainview on Tuesday, but the Eagles couldn't quite commit. Things were looking up from the start of the game, with the Eagles managing some great headway. They held the advantage up until the ending. Going into the finale the scoreboard read 48-40 for the Eagles. It seemed like a cut and dry victory for the boys, but the Pirates started a stellar comeback. When the dust settled it would be the Pirates on top, who edged out the Eagles 59-58 in the final moments. Braxen Eichelberger was the star player for the team with 17 points, shooting four of eight three-pointers for 50% and one of six two-pointers for 17%, as well as two rebounds and one steal; Ryder Kelly had 10 points, four rebounds and one steal; Porter Mathews had nine points, nine rebounds and two steals; Turner Heiss had seven points, six rebounds and one steal; Colten Shoemaker had seven points and two rebounds; Maguire Heiss had six points and four rebounds; and Cameron Laursen had two points and six rebounds. Perhaps inspired by their previous outing, the Eagles left no room for error. They put down the Chanticleers 41-24 in the first half to cement their spot on top. Deja vu kicked in when the Chanticleers started to pull ahead, but the Eagles had a strong enough start that their opponent was always in the shadows. By the end, the Eagles proved themselves against Ord with a decisive 62-51 win. T. Heiss lead the boys with 18 points, seven of 12 two-pointers for 58%, as well as seven rebounds and three steals; Kelly right behind with 17 points, five rebounds and one steal; Eichelberger had 11 points and two rebounds; M. Heiss had seven points, four rebounds and two steals; Mathews had six points, nine rebounds and three steals; Shoemaker had two points and two rebounds; Laursen had one point, five rebounds and one steal; and Cooper Mckay had two rebounds and one steal.
