The O'Neill Lady Eagles Track and Field team traveled to Broken Bow on Friday, April 8 to compete in the always competitive Broken Bow Invitational. Many Eagles medaled and the team finished in sixth place. Senior, Zelie Sorensen, continues to blaze in the sprints. Zelie won the 100 M dash and placed second in the 200M. Zelie's time in the 100 of 12.79 is her personal best and puts her second all time at OHS. She sprinted to a 26.92 clocking the 200M for second place. Zelie also finished sixth in the pole vault clearing 8'-4". Zelie finished her day by anchoring the 4 x 100 relay with teammates Presley Heiss, Zori Koehler and Minlu Liu. Their time of 53.43 was good enough for 2nd place. Sophomore Minlu Liu also had a great day in the triple jump. Minlu jumped a new personal best of 33'-00.50" to finish in fourth place. Freshman, Olivia Young, also jumped a new personal best in the event, 32'-05.50", to finish in sixth place. Zori Koehler also ran her personal best time of 18.00 in the 100 high hurdles to place sixth in the event. The girls 4 x 800 relay team of Yoselin Cayax Domingues, Naomi Sunum, Schuylar Morrow and Ashley Dickau placed fourth. "We were happy to see some sunshine at a meet and I think our girls competed very well with some of the best in Class B at this meet. We are a young team, but continue to get better each week. Minlu's triple jump was a great example of the improvements that can happen if you work hard at your event. I was really happy for her. We look forward to hosting our meet on the new date of Tuesday, April 12th in O'Neill," commented Coach Mike Peterson.
