Dorothy Lawrence
Dorothy Lawrence, age 96, of O'Neill, passed away early Thursday morning, June 14, 2012, at the Golden LivingCenter in O'Neill.
Visitation was held on Saturday, June 16, 2012, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service, at the First Presbyterian Church in O'Neill.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church in O'Neill with Rev. Craig Collins officiating. Music was provided by pianist, Deb Frederick and soloist, Marvin Ziska.
Pallbearers were Dennis Fleming, Ronald Fleming, Wayne Brewster, Jim Brewster, Larry Wabs and Archie Crabtree.
Burial was in the O'Neill Cemetery in O'Neill.
Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill was in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy was born to Louis Edgar and Emma (Kraft) Fleming on May 20, 1916, in York. She attended country schools near Ewing and graduated from Ewing High School in 1934.
In June of 1935, she married Charles (Charlie) Lawrence of O'Neill. They made their home in O'Neill where Charlie was a livestock truck driver and Dorothy was a homemaker and chief fence post seller for Charlie. Charlie passed away in January of 1975.
Dorothy and Charlie had no children of their own but loved to have their nieces and nephews come and visit.
Every year Dorothy always had a large garden and canned much produce from the garden and many fruit trees at her home on the east edge of O'Neill.
She was a long time member of the Presbyterian Church and was a charter member of the Golden Age Senior Center. She loved cards, enjoyed playing bingo and always enjoyed visiting with friends and family.
Dorothy is survived by one brother, Robert Fleming and his wife, Louise of Omaha; two sisters-in-law, Agnes Lawrence Douglas of O'Neill and Elizabeth Fleming of Omaha; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; four brothers, Lloyd, William, Arthur and Cliff and four sisters, Pearl, May, Grace and Ruth.
