Doris Poessnecker Kloppenborg, age 85, of Atkinson, passed away Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at the West Holt Memorial Hospital in Atkinson.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, from 3-8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at the Seger Funeral Home in Atkinson.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atkinson with Pastor John Ryding officiating. Music was provided by organist, Sharon Corkle and congregational singing.

Pallbearers were Tim Cahoy, Troy Hetrick, Stacey Boes, Chris Nolan, Joe Salcedo and Matt Stracke.

Honorary pallbearers were all of Doris' grand, great and great-great grandchildren and god children.

Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Atkinson.

Seger Funeral Home in Atkinson was in charge of arrangements.

Doris was born on Feb. 14, 1927, in Bristow, to Edwin and Bessie (Sparr) Van Horn. She attended school until the eighth grade.

She was united in marriage to Thilo Poessnecker on Feb. 21, 1944. To this union nine children were born: Dottie, Mary, Jim, Fran, Esther, Lois, Mark, Dave and Sonia. The couple lived on their farm where Doris helped her husband with the usual farm chores. Thilo passed away on April 10, 1993. She later married Junior Ervin Kloppenborg on Feb. 13, 1999, in Doniphan.

She loved the farm and going on rides around Nebraska seeing the small towns with her family. She loved raising flowers, big trucks and  Stuart stock car races, but most of all she loved her children and grandchildren.

Doris is survived by her husband, Ervin Kloppenborg of Cozad; children: Dottie and husband, Marvin Smith of Hooper, Mary (Smith) and husband, Kelvin Hoerrmann of Giltner, Thilo "Jim" Poessnecker and wife, Elaine of Stuart, Fran and husband, Dick Janzing of Atkinson, Esther and husband, Dean Lindwurm of Burke, SD, Lois and husband, Dean Janzing, Mark Poessnecker and wife, Cindy and David Poessnecker, all of Atkinson and Sonia Poessnecker and John Tunnissen of Winner, SD; 22 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; one sister, Dorothy Goldfuss of Atkinson; and one brother, Ernie Van Horn and wife, Jane of Newport; and Ervin's children: Wynonna and husband, Wyn Lawhead of Cozad, Merna Carver of Baggs, WY, Torry Kloppenborg and his wife, Nancy of Hastings, Neil Kloppenborg of Eustis and Buff Kloppenborg of Cozad.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Thilo Poessnecker; grandson, Michael Janzing; son-in-laws, Jim Kracht and Bill Smith; great-grandson, Seth Coats; sister, Bernice Mathers and two siblings in infancy.
