Doris J. Nissen

Clearwater — Doris J. Nissen, 101, formerly of Clearwater, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023 at Gethsemane Presbyterian Church, 224 Wallace Ave., in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

A celebration of life service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church in Council Bluffs, Iowa. A luncheon will follow the service.

Memorials may be made to the Gethsemane Church in Doris' name or to the family for future designation.

Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home and Crematory in Council Bluffs, Iowa is in charge of the arrangements.

Doris was born in Clearwater on July 13, 1922, to the late Harry and Eunice Appleby. She was the second of six children. 

Doris is survived by her brother Dick Appleby; her son James Nissen; two daughters,Connie Mace and LuAnn Nissen (Howard) Goodman; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Dorris was always surrounded by many good friends and family. The family is grateful to all those who shared in Dorris' life.
