Burial was in the orchard Hill Cemetery in Orchard.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Dennis was born on Feb. 11, 1955 in Lincoln to Clair and Jean (Law) Kohl. Dennis was born blind and mentally challenged. His parents weren't able to find schooling for him in Nebraska, so the family moved to St. Louis, MO. Once there, they were not able to get schooling for him. His mother worked out of the home to care for him while still looking for schooling for him. He was a teenager before he was able to be placed in a facility. He was there until it closed. Then after a few placements that didn't work out, they found a wonderful place for him in St. Louis County that was close to his parents. It was very nice and they would go on outings often. He lived there for years until 1996.

In 1994 his parents retired and moved back to Nebraska. Then in 1996 when his parents were able, they moved him back to Nebraska also. He was placed in North Star Services in O'Neill. He enjoyed being in North Star. He was involved in a lot of their activities like going shopping, going out to eat and going and visiting his family especially on the holidays. He was with North Star until 2021.

After having a stroke, his family moved him to Arbor Care Centers in Neligh where he lived until his passing.

He was very well cared for while at NorthStar and had very caring staff and we also know that he got very good care at Arbor Care.

Dennis loved noises, he liked listening to big trucks go by, lawn mowers and anything else that moved and made noise. He loved animals, all animals from dogs to ponies. When he was little, he would stand by the chicken house and listen to the chickens on our grandparents' farm. He loved music of all kinds and would often sing along. He also liked TV, movies and sports.

Even though he was blind and mentally challenged, he loved his family and always enjoyed spending time with them.

Dennis is survived by his two sisters Rita Kohl and Diana (George) Blain, all of Page; three nephews, Corey Kohl, Jon Hills and Joe (Hollie) Hills; seven great-nieces and -nephews, Terryn, Andrew, Achillies, Toni, Caleb, Tyler and Ada; numerous friends and neighbors; staff and caregivers at North Star; staff and nurses at Arbor Care Centers – Neligh; and AseraCare Hospice.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents Norbert and Ethel Kohl and Willard and Edna Sherer.
