Grand Island — Debra Ann Rhodes, 71, of Grand Island, formerly of Atkinson and O'Neill, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024 at Grand Island Regional Medical Center in Grand Island.

Memorial visitation will be held from 10:30-11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024 at the mortuary in O'Neill.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Debra's name.

Debra was born on Nov. 14, 1952 in Atkinson, to Donald and Yvonne (Tielke) Chaney. She passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024.

Deb grew up and went to school in Atkinson and O'Neill.  

She worked at the Thompson Company for over 30 years and transferred to Grand Island in 1986, where she met Tom Rhodes and they married on May 2, 1997. 

She had one son, David Peterson.  

They both enjoyed camping and fishing together.  Tom would fish and Deb would read her books.

She enjoyed her grandkids and great-grandkids.

Deb is survived by her husband of 27 years Tom Rhodes of Grand Island; her sister Micki (Brad) Richter of Doniphan; her brother Doug (Tish) Chaney of O'Neill; three stepsons Tim (Shannon) Rhodes of Slayton, MN, Tony (Linda) Rhodes of Wood Lake, MN and Richard Rhodes of Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son David in 2008, her parents and one brother Randy Chaney.
