Connie Jean Prewitt, 64, of O'Neill, died Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at her home in O'Neill surrounded by her family.

Memorial visitation was held Monday, April 6, 2026 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill with a prayer service.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, April 7 at Faith Community Church in O'Neill. Rev. Paul Harder officiated. Connie's wishes were to be remembered as she was prior to her diagnosis with cancer. The family asked that, if anyone had a classic car, it be brought to honor her love for them.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Connie was born on Feb. 6, 1962, in Atkinson, to Ray and Zelda (Barnes) LeMunyan. She grew up living on the family ranch outside of Atkinson with her parents and six siblings. She attended West Holt High School and graduated in 1980.

Connie married her high school sweetheart Tommy Prewitt on Sept. 14, 1979 at the United Methodist Church in Atkinson. The couple made their first home in Atkinson, where Tom worked on a ranch south of Atkinson. Later, they moved northeast of O'Neill, where Tom and Connie raised their four children and later purchased their own farm. Connie helped with summer haying, along with any other task or chore Tom needed help with on the farm.

Connie enjoyed the outdoors, especially in the summertime when she always had multiple plants to water and keep her busy. She could grow anything, and it always looked amazing. Connie had a passion and talent for painting and could paint almost anything she set her mind to. We would always find her out in her “She Shed” doing some sort of craft or painting. Connie enjoyed camping, spending time with friends and family, and going to the horse races. Connie also had an eye for classic cars. Connie was the proud owner of her “Zellie,” a 1969 Chevy Camaro, which she didn't let anyone else drive. She was very proud of this car, and she enjoyed taking her out on cruise nights and “lighting” up the tires. Connie enjoyed taking care of others. Her last job before her recent illness was at Evergreen Assisted Living in O'Neill. Connie thoroughly enjoyed caring for the residents, getting to know them and hearing their stories from years past. She was always excited to hear new stories from her residents.

Connie is survived by her husband of 45 years Tom Prewitt of O'Neill; four children Amanda (Jeremy) Kaufman of O'Neill, Michael (Carrie) Prewitt of Plainview, Jenna (Nathan) Montgomery of O'Neill and Maria (Jeremy) Chohon of Wisner; 14 grandchildren Haylee (Matt) Dolezal, Chloe, Raegan and Charlie Kaufman, Roni and Baili Prewitt, Kenna (Kyle) Couch, Chairity, Kayli and Cassidy Montgomery, Breana and Autumn Chohon and Devon and Cooper Schultz; one great-grandchild Tayson Schumacher; three sisters Shirley (Lonnie) Root of Yankton, SD, Lois (Bill) Widhalm of Norfolk and Leanne (Dean) Sidak of O'Neill; four sisters-in-law Cindy (Mark) Poessnecker of Atkinson, Karen Prewitt of Mission, Texas, Sandi Prewitt of Hastings and Karen Lemunyan of Alliance; many nieces and nephews; and special friends Kim and Brian Anderson, Wendy and Harold Claussen and Carla Wilson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers Jim, Larry and Gary; her mother-in-law Gloria Prewitt; and her father-in-law Lynn Prewitt.
