He spent the remainder of his life in Page except for a two year tour of duty with the U.S. Army. He graduated from Page High School in 1962 and then served in the U.S. Army from 1965 until 1967. He was stationed at Fort Benning, GA, until Vietnam when he served in the 67th Maintenance Battalion in the Dominican Republic.

When he returned home from the service he remained on the farm where he enjoyed gardening, caring for animals, especially his flock of laying hens and his dogs and cats.

Charles is survived by two brothers, David Summers and George (Patty) Summers, all of Page; three sisters: Thelma Phillippi and husband Al of Lincoln, Leona McLeod and husband Bruce of Shertz, Texas and Joyce Hunter and husband Lowell of Falls Church, VA; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather and aunt.
