Chair John Hammerlun called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Present: Dan Drueke, Tom Welsh, Chair John Hammerlun, Dan Pribil, and Bill Babutzke Weed Superintendent 

Excused: Kevin DeKay and Dustin Breiner

Minutes Approved: Dan Drueke made a motion to approve the minutes and Dan Pribil seconded. All approved. 

Claims Approved: Tom Welsh made a motion to approve the claims and Dan Pribil seconded. All approved.

Old Business: An Estimate was given on the Weed Building. Still tabled at this time. Some areas were pointed out for spraying and watch list. 

New Business: Adam Brockman, Nebraska Department of Agriculture, was here to give his report on Holt County Weed Department records. Holt County has one open file, typically to close a record will take three years. Mr. Brockman will need to see improvement in these three years for closure to happen. Reports are all good and points lost are because of the open file. Total score for year was 3325 out of a possible 3400. Mr. Brockman did say Bill is doing a very good job for Holt County.   

Byron Wilson will be our summer help this year. Still accepting applications. 

Information on the following list of twelve noxious weeds found in Nebraska can be located at the neweed.org website with sufficient information on each noxious weed. 

Canada Thi ast     ale, Musk Thistle, Plumeless Thistle, Purple Loosestrife, Spotted Knapweed, Diffuse Knapweed, Saltcedar, Phragmites, Giant Knotweed, Japanese Knotweed, Sericea Lespedeza, Leafy Spurge.

Continuing with the Invasive Plants Watch List for 2022:

For Terrestrial Plant Species North of the Elkhorn River (Category 2), species are:  Russian Knapweed, Garlic Mustard, Creeping Foxtail, Absinth Wormwood, Caucasian and Yellow Bluestem, Queen Anne's Lace, Common Teasel, Cutleaf Teasel, Yellow Flag Iris, Japanese, Morrow, Showy Fly and Amur Honeysuckle, Wild Parsnip, Sulphur Cinquefoil, Common Buckthorn, European Buckthorn, Common Tansy 

Next Meeting will be Thursday June 9th at 7:00 PM at the Weed Department Office.  

Dan Drueke made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Dan Pribil seconded. All approved. 

Meeting adjourned at 7:40pm.
