Cardinals Win Over Spartans and Huskies

The St. Mary's Cardinals boys added two more wins to their tally with a 63-33 win over Boyd Co. last Tuesday, Feb. 8, and then won over West Holt 65-50 on Thursday, Feb.10.

The Spartans played fairly well with the Cardinals in the first quarter with the Cards putting up 35 and the Spartans 14.

Leading 45-13 at the half, the Cards continued to drain shots and pile up points in the third and fourth quarters scoring 28 points while holding the Spartans to eight and 11 points in each quarter respectively. Adam Everitt led the Cards with 16 points, four rebounds and one steal; Tate Thompson 13 points and seven rebounds; Aidan Hedstrom 12 points and five rebounds; Isaac Everitt 10 points, five rebounds and two steals; Blake Benson six points, five rebounds and one steal; Carson Dannenbring four points, and Charles Barlow two points and one steal.

On Thursday, Feb. 10 the Cards traveled to Atkinson to take on the West Holt Huskies and downed them 65-50. The Huskies who are 11-12 were no easy match for the Cards. The Cards started strong scoring 33 points to the Huskies 17.

After the half, the Huskies made some adjustments and started to close the 16 point gap. The Huskies scored eight more in the fourth than the Cards but the Cards' lead held until the end.

Hedstrom had an impressive 26 points, mostly under the bucket, shooting 75 percent in two-pointers and eight of 10 in free throws for 80 percent; Hedstrom had six rebounds and five steals; Adam Everitt 17 points and 11 rebounds; Isaac Everitt 10 points, two rebounds and two steals; Thompson nine points, six rebounds and five steals; and Dalton Adler three points.
