St. Mary's Aidan hedstrom breaks through Creighton's defense in last weeks homecoming victory in O'Neill.
The number four power point Cardinals hosted the Creighton Bulldogs in O'Neill on Friday afternoon.
The Bulldogs who always field a tough team were only able to field 12 players for last weeks match. The dogs couldn't hold the Cardinal offense in the 48-14 St. Mary's homecoming win.
The Cards dominated the game running 70 plays for 23 first downs and had only three penalties for 25 yards. Creighton ran 35 plays for five first downs and had eight penalties for 40 yards.
Aidan Hedstrom got the momentum going when he hit Isaac Everitt on a five yard touchdown run. Hedstrom ran in the conversion to put the Cards up 8-0 in the first. In the second Hedstrom hit Isaac Everitt again on a 18 yard touchdown. Creighton's only score of the first half came when Brody Eggers ran in a 27 yard touchdown and Kale Fulton went in for the conversion. Hedstrom kept the lead going on a 30 yard touchdown run to end scoring before the half.
The Cards scored 14 in the third quarter on a 20 yard touchdown run by Hedstrom who then hit Joe Wiese for the two point conversion.
Creighton got their second score of the game when Eggers ran in a six yard touchdown run. Hedstrom got his second score of the quarter on a 31 yard touchdown.
In the final quarter the Cards racked up another 14 points on a two yard touchdown and a 21 yard touchdown run by Hedstrom.
Hedstrom led the Cardinals with 28 carries for 234 yards and five touchdowns, Tate Thompson 19 carries for 124 yards, Gabe Pribil eight carries for 26 yards and Isaac Everitt two carries for eight yards.
Isaac Everitt led the Cardinals in receiving with three catches for 27 yards and two touchdowns and Thompson four catches for 16 yards.
Wyatt Scofield led the Cardinal defense with 11 tackles, Hedstrom, Isaac Everitt, Thompson and Adam Everitt seven tackles each, Charles Barlow four tackles, Jace Rosenkrans three tackles, Risken Dawson two tackles, Sam Barlow and Gabe Pribil one tackle each.
