While the Cardinal girls have been on the struggle a bit this season, things are starting to look up. They downed Ainsworth at the start of the new year and last week they visited Summerland and pushed through 36-32. The Cards managed nine points from the start, but since it a defense-heavy match, they still out-scored the Bobcats' six. The opponent upped their play going forward, but the Cards answered back in the same way. Bobcats matched the Cardinal offensively in the fourth and the score was within three in the last few minutes but the Bobcats were forced to foul and let the victory slip by. Gracie Williamson pushed ahead with 11 points, 13 rebounds and three steals; Cherish Williamson had seven points, nine rebounds and one steal; Adyson Peterson had seven points and four rebounds; Tatum Ickes had seven points, one rebounds and one steal; and Emerson Mlnarik had four points, six rebounds and one steal. Early on, the scoreboard read 18-4 and the Cards carried the momentum the whole way through. The Cards never dipped below double-digits in each stanza, while the host could never crack the barrier. From there, the girls wrapped things up quickly, securing another W for the week. Ickes pushed ahead with 20 points, shooting one of one three-pointers for 100% and seven of 10 two-pointers for 70%, as well as three rebounds and nine steals; Peterson had 17 points, two rebounds and five steals; G. Williamson had 14 points, seven rebounds and nine steals; Mlnarik had five points, seven rebounds and four steals; C. Williamson had two points, four rebounds and two seals; Bethany Leisy had two points and one rebound; and Olivia Bauer had one rebound and one steal SMH 18 15 16 11 60 CWC 4 2 3 2 11
