Avera Reopens Multiple Services To Public

Nov 6, 2024 (0)

Avera St. Anthony's Hospital is pleased to announce that labor and delivery, as well as surgery, services have been restored following the Oct. 7 explosion that happened adjacent to the hospital.

“After completing various inspections and tests to assure the safety of our operating rooms, we are excited that these services are now available to patients in O'Neill again,” said John Kozyra, President and CEO of Avera St. Anthony's Hospital. “This comes on the heels of announcing earlier this week that emergency and inpatient services had been restored. Our providers and staff are excited to be able to return to what they do best – providing high-quality care to the people of northeast Nebraska.

“This has been a very difficult time, but we are also so grateful that the recovery process has gone so well,” he continued. “It's really a testament to our providers, staff, contractors and the Avera Health system that we have been able to safely get back to providing care in such a short time period.”

Avera St. Anthony's Hospital restored its emergency department and inpatient care services at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29. Until further notice, patients and visitors will use the entry on the north side of the hospital along East Adams Street to access the emergency department. Parking is available in the lot at the intersection of East Adams Street and North Third Street. Signage and barricades are on site to help guide the public.

The emergency department will operate out of repurposed space in the inpatient area until repairs in the actual emergency department are completed in the coming months.

The only two services the hospital is still working to restore are dialysis and MRI.
