Ava was born on April 6, 1927, to Earl and Kittie (Ruggles) Fry on the family farm just east of Ewing. She had three brothers, Eldred, Willard, and Lynn, and two sisters, Frances and Carol. Ava spent her early elementary years at Riverside District 42 and graduated from Ewing Public Schools with salutatorian honors in 1944.
After graduation, she taught school for three years in Holt and Antelope counties, at which time she was introduced to Lee A. Fink. Her jubilant charm, contagious laugh and heart of gold soon made her the apple of Lee's eye. They were married June 10, 1947, at Ewing Presbyterian Church.
Lee and Ava enjoyed a successful farming career that began in Ewing and later moved to their home northeast of Page. Throughout their marriage, the Lord blessed Lee and Ava with three children; Timothy E. Fink, born April 8, 1949; Bruce W. Fink, born August 29, 1952; and Jill M. John, born August 3, 1961.
Ava spent her days doing what she loved most; working hard, spending time with her family and friends, and serving her Lord. She was an active member of the Page United Methodist Church and served in many leadership roles in the United Methodist Women organization. Ava's daily routine consisted of reading scripture, devotional studies, crossword puzzles and recreational reading. Ava also loved cooking, sewing, embroidering, quilting and the occasional Hallmark movie.
On March 23, 1991, Lee passed away and joined his Lord in heaven leaving behind a loving wife and family. In the early morning hours of April 20, 2011, Ava left this world to return home to her Lord. She has since been reunited with Lee, along with her father, mother, brothers and sister Frances.
Ava will be missed dearly by her sister, Carol; two sons; one daughter; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; other relatives and her many close friends.
Her greatest desire was to guide the way for all of those she loved.
Memorials may be directed to the United Methodist Women, the United Methodist Church or the Page Cemetery Association.
