Andrew "Andy" Hytrek, age 89, of Stuart, passed away Saturday,  April 6, 2013, at Parkside Manor in Stuart.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 8, 2013, from 3-8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. Christian wake service followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary, at the Seger Funeral Home in Stuart. 

The funeral Mass was held Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at 10 a.m.at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Stuart with Father Luke Steffes officiating. Music was provided by organist, Deb Kaup and soloists, Bonnie Krysl and Rick Shearer.

Pallbearers were Lee Irish, Chris M. Hytrek, Andrew J. Hytrek, Michael Hytrek,  James Hytrek, Matthew Hytrek, Marcus Hytrek and Seth Hytrek.

Burial was in the St. Boniface Catholice Cemetery in Stuart with military rites conducted by the Stuart American Legion Post #115.

Seger Funeral Home in Stuart was in charge of arrangements.

Andrew Paul Hytrek was born Jan. 14, 1924, to John and Theresa (Miksch) Hytrek in Stuart. He was a 1941 graduate of Stuart High School. He married Juanita Kaup on Sept. 30, 1950, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Stuart.

Andy was a U.S. Army veteran and served as a member of the 11th Airborne in World War II and the Red Devils in the Korean War. He was a permanent member of the American Legion Norton-Carlisle Post #115 in Stuart.

He was a lifetime rancher and dairy farmer south of Stuart. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita of Stuart; one daughter, Sally Hytrek of Omaha; six sons: Timothy (Lori) Hytrek of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Dennis (Tonya) Hytrek and David (Kathy) Hytrek, all of Atkinson, Patrick (Tammy) Hytrek of Stuart, Chris (Staci) Hytrek of Cortland and Nicholas (Erin) Hytrek of Moville, Iowa; 21 grandchildren, 20 great- grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; sisters, Ludwina King, Marie McGowan and Rita McWhorter; brothers, Bill, Jim and Anthony “Jack” Hytrek and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Andy Jr.; a sister, Pauline King and brothers, Dick and Fred Hytrek.
