Allen Christenson, age 73, of O'Neill, passed away early Sunday morning, Sept. 9, 2012, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Visitation was held from 6-9 p.m. with a prayer service at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.

Funeral services were  held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at Faith Community Church in O'Neill with Rev. Paul Harder officiating. Music was provided by pianist, Sandra Garwood and singers,  Joe Liscano, Steve and Michelle Randolph.

Pallbearers were Lane Christenson, Robert Wert, John Christenson, Chad Cose, Philip Christenson and Ryan Bergh.

Graveside services were held at 3:30 p.m. at the Aurora Cemetery in Aurora  with military rites conducted by the O'Neill American Legion Simonson Post 93.

Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill was in charge of arrangements. 

Allen was born on Jan. 18, 1939, in Aurora to Raymond and Betty (Schmidt) Christenson. He graduated from Aurora High School and attended the University of Nebraska earning his bachelor of science degree. 

He met Sherry Lee Bergh and they were married in Plainview on June 14, 1963. He served in the U.S. Navy from September of 1961 until June of 1966.

Allen was a farmer and rancher. He was a member of the Faith Community Church in O'Neill, the American Legion Simonson Post 93 and a Praise Network board member.

Allen is survived by his wife, Sherry; two sons: Reed Christenson of Cape Cod, MA, and Todd Christenson and wife Andrea of Hong Kong; one daughter, Shelly Asplin and husband, Toby of Omaha; his mother, Betty Christenson of Aurora; three grandchildren; three brothers: Ron Christenson of Clay Center, Gale Christenson of Aurora and Roger Christenson of Aurora and one sister, Diana Peterson of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Christenson.

Memorials may be made to Faith Community Church.
