Lynch — Albert Elroy Lee, 71, of Lynch, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2024 at the VA Medical Center in Grand Island. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024 at the Lynch Community Hall in Lynch. Jeff Hart will officiate. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery in Lynch with military rites provided by the Bristow American Legion Post 76. Memorials may be made to the family for future designation. Biglin's Mortuary in Spencer is in charge of the arrangements. Albert was born on Jan. 24, 1953 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Lynch, to George and Velma (Spencer) Lee. He attended country school at Sunshine Bottom and graduated from Lynch High School in 1971. Albert enlisted into the U.S. Navy on Jan. 27, 1972. He served during the Vietnam War and, for a time, served on the same ship in Japan, the USS Parsons, with his big brother Doug. After being honorably discharged on Jan. 3, 1975, Albert attended Northeast Technical Community College in Norfolk, graduating with an associate's degree in criminal justice. He was a law enforcement officer in Santee, Buffalo County, Lynch and in Boyd County. Albert married Karen (Spencer) Giles in Lynch on July 1, 1995. Their family included the three children that Karen had in a previous marriage Amanda, Michael and Spencer Giles. Albert was a member of the Bristow American Legion Nelson Post 76 for over 50 years and the Lynch Veterans of Foreign Wars William D. Spencer Post 5755. Albert loved to build things. In his teens, he built his own motorcycle from parts he found. He enjoyed horses, guns and hunting coyotes. He was an avid story teller and always had a story for you every time he would see you. Albert also enjoyed spending a lot of time with his step-grandchildren. Albert is survived by his brother Daniel (Cindy) Lee of Gahanna, Ohio, sister Coleen Lee of Lincoln, many nieces, nephews and great-nephews, ex-wife Karen Lee of Lynch, stepchildren, step-grandchildren and sister-in-law Linda Lee of Overland Park, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Doug Lee and his nephew Jeremy Scott.
