The 11th annual Christmas Closet will once again be held at the O'Neill Community Center on Monday Dec. 16th. However, the event has unfortunately encountered a minor setback this year. St. Patrick's Parish Center was the storage area for all of the supplies used year after year. Everything used to collect donations, decorate the Community Center, and wrap gifts was lost in the explosion on Oct. 7th. Monetary donations to repurchase supplies would be greatly appreciated. To donate specific items to help the Christmas Closet rebuild their supplies, contact information is below. Doors will open the evening of the event at 5:30. St. Patrick's Church will offer a free soup supper, with serving to begin at 6:30. All are invited and welcome. The Christmas Closet offers an opportunity for individuals to “shop” for a few extra Christmas gifts for others that they might not otherwise be able to give. A special area is set up where children can choose a gift for a loved one and have it beautifully wrapped. Once the youth have chosen their item, kids' activities will be available for them. Santa will also make an appearance. Donations of gently used or new items-–with the intent of being regifted—are being requested and can be dropped off at local churches and businesses during the month of Nov. Toys, games, new clothing with tags, home decor, kitchen items, tools, —any gifts that would be appropriate for men, women, and children of all ages. A good guideline regarding donations is if you would feel comfortable re-gifting it to your loved ones, then it would be an excellent addition to the Christmas Closet. For questions regarding donations or to volunteer, please contact Ranell Otte at (402)340-1751 or Chrisy Yates at (402)336-6202. (0) COMMENTSWelcome to the discussion.
