O'Neill LifeServe Blood Drive A Success

Sep 4, 2024 (0)

The recent O'Neill Community Blood Drive, held on Thursday, August 22nd, was nothing short of a triumph for our local community! A remarkable 38 donors stepped up to contribute, including ONE first time donor – Resulting in 39 units of life-saving blood collected. The donations made at this event have the potential to save up to 117 lives—an incredible impact on our community's well-being.

Why Are Blood Donors So Vital?

Blood donors are true heroes—every single donation can help up to three patients in critical need. There is no substitute for human blood, and each time you donate, you're making a real difference. With over 3,000 units of blood needed weekly to support hospital patients, the demand is constant, yet only a small fraction of eligible donors give. Shockingly, while 90% of people will require blood at some point in their lives, less than 3% donate. In the U.S., all transfused blood must come from unpaid volunteer donors, making every donation crucial.

Get Involved – Every

Contribution Counts!

Supporting the blood supply goes beyond donating blood. Volunteers, event coordinators, and sponsors all play essential roles in ensuring that the community blood supply remains strong. Whether you're interested in sponsoring a drive, volunteering, or learning about fundraising or scholarship opportunities, you can make a significant impact. Ready to get involved? Reach out to Kim Jensen Dietrich at 712.212.5016 or kim.jensendietrich@lifeservebloodcenter.org to find out how you can help.
