5 Eagles Attend State

Track and Field State at Burke Stadium in Omaha kicked off last Wednesday, May 15. O'Neill Public schools sent five athletes to compete. They were Pryor Mathews, Drew Morrow, Presley Heiss, Brooklyn Cahoy and Minlu Liu. 

The first event of the day was the Girl's Pole Vault where Brooklyn Cahoy would take 18th with a vault of 9' 06. Later in the day Presley Heiss would run in the Girls 100 M Dash Preliminaries, where she would also land 18th with her run of 12:81. Minlu Liu competed in the Girls Triple Jump with a jump of 32' 00.50 to take 23rd.

Pryor Mathews took on the 300 M Hurdles and managed to sneak to seventh place with a time of 40:80, just 1.7 seconds behind first. Drew Morrow competed in the Boys Long Jump where he would jump 19' 07.50 to land in 20th.

The day would end with medal presentations at 1:15. This was a solid effort from all the eagles who competed, and their commitment to making it to State is to be commended.
