The Junior High Lady Eagles have been busy this month with three early meets. They traveled to Ainsworth on Friday, April 12 and then hosted the O'Neill JH Invitational on Monday, April 15th. On Friday, April 12th they traveled to Ainsworth to compete in the Ainsworth JH Invitational. The Lady Eagles were meet runner ups scoring 153 team points. They were only 1 point behind West Holt who won the meet with 154 points. Lady Eagle key contributors included Mady Heiss who won long jump and broke her own school record with a jump of 16' 10”. Heiss also took home gold in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash. Tenzlie Sorensen took home gold in triple jump with a personal best of 31' 8.5”. That jump also entered her in the record books where she is sitting second all-time right behind OHS alumni Lauren Young. Sorensen and Heiss also earned second place in the 4x100 meter relay along with B. Sudbeck and T. Wade. Other contributors included Mariah Kallhoff and Taylor Young who took home 1st and 2nd places in the shotput. Kallhoff placed first with a throw of 32' 1.5” and Young took home second place with a personal best of 31' 6.5”. That throw also entered Young in the all-time JH records in 5th place. On Monday, April 15th, the lady Eagles took the track at their home meet. They managed to have several great performances. The Eagle throwers led the way with M. Kallhoff and T. Young taking 1st and 2nd in the shotput. 8th grader Mariah Kallhoff also won the Discus with a personal best throw of 91' 8. This throw also puts Kallhoff in the record book in the discus column where she sits in 5th place. 7th grader Kiarra Kennedy also got herself in the record book with her time in the mile where she took 2nd place in the event and in the all-time records. Kennedy ran the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:48.94, only 4 seconds behind the current record holder. Kennedy also stood out in the 800-meter run where she took 2nd with a time of 2:41.63. T. Sorensen and M. Heiss also found themselves on the top of the podium with first places finishes for Sorensen in Triple Jump and Heiss in Long Jump. Along with her impressive jumps, Heiss won the 100 meter-dash with a personal best time of 13.19 while also breaking the JH school record in the 200 meter-dash with a time of 27.19 where she also won the event.
