Renovation Project At St. Anthony's Completed

Ribbon cutting: The Emergency Room Department renovation at Avera St. Anthony's was completed in May of 2023 with a ribbon cutting. The Radiology Department renovation was just completed this month.

O'Neill, Neb. (Jan. 29, 2024) – Avera St. Anthony's Hospital is pleased to announce the completion of its Emergency and Radiology Department renovation project.

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services inspected and approved the project earlier this month.

This completes the multi-phase addition and renovation project of the two departments. The community joined Avera St. Anthony's for a blessing, ribbon-cutting, and open house in May 2023 for the completion of the new space.

“This is a very exciting time to be able to close this chapter of construction and begin a new one as we have started to care for the patients in these new and updated spaces,” said Amy Langan MHA, BSN, RN, the Director of Nursing at Avera St. Anthony's Hospital.

Kayleen Lee, the CEO of Avera St. Anthony's Hospital, said the project is one in which employees and the entire community can be proud.

“From the planning stages, we included community stakeholders such as EMS to make sure we were building something that would improve our collective ability to serve O'Neill and the surrounding region with high-quality healthcare services,” she said. “Thanks to our many partners – including the contributions and patience of our staff as we've worked through these phases – I believe we've achieved that. This was something I wanted to complete before I ended my time at Avera St. Anthony's because it is so important for our healthcare ministry. This puts a bow on my time here working with so many outstanding people.”

Lee's last day as CEO with Avera St. Anthony's Hospital will be January 31. The new CEO, John Kozyra, joined the organization on Jan. 29.

The renovation part of the project added two more exam rooms and a private consultation room, as well as utility rooms, a public bathroom, and storage space.

The total project added approximately 6,000 square feet to the hospital and remodeled another 1,800 square feet.

BWBR Architects and Hausmann Construction were partners on the project.
