Last week marked the end of the season for the St. Mary's Cardinals as they were competing at the 2023 NSAA Volleyball Championships tournament. The Cardinals were first paired with Sumner-Eddyville-Miller on Nov. 2, who entered with a record of 27-4. The Cardinals battled in match four of the tourney at 3 p.m. The Cards went back and forth with the Mustangs, but fumbled in the final set, losing overall 3-2; 25-23, 21-25, 16-25, 25-17 and 15-6. This marks the Cardinal's second ever loss of the season, showing just what an impressive team these girls can make. They ended with an overall record of 31-2. After downing the Cards, Sumner-Eddyville-Miller went on to face GACC and Amherst and also took them both out. On Nov. 4 at 11 a.m. the Sumner-Eddyville-Miller Mustangs claimed the title of Champion of the 2023 Tournament. A big congratulations to the St. Mary's Cardinals for making it this far in their volleyball season. They gave it their all in the big tournament and gave us some great matches leading up to it. The Cardinals ended with record of 31 wins to 2 losses and their highest win-streak was 25.
