Last week saw the O'Neill Eagles football team square off against the Broken Bow Indians in O'Neill. The game ended in a crushing 40-14 in the Indians favor. This match moves the Eagles to a 2-2 score so far this season. Quarter one seemed like a promising start, with the Indians taking a drive down and scoring first with 7:29 in the first. The second quarter was what really sunk the Eagles. The Eagle dense couldn't keep the Indians down and let them put up 20. Going to third, the Eagles were at a major disadvantage, but still managed to sneak in a touchdown with a two point conversion. The fourth saw both clubs use the bench with Broken Bow putting up one more score on the night. Leading the Eagle's offense was Porter Mathews with three carries for 24 yards; Brady Eichelberger three carries for 23 yards; Braxen Eichelberger three carries for 12 yards; Matt Ross two carries for 15 yards; Oliver Schluns two carries for -2 yards; Colten Shoemaker one carry for 12 yards; Nate Brown one carry for seven yards; Grady Welke one carry for 0 yards; and Drew Morrow one carry for -10 yards. Defensively, Pryor Mathews stole the show with 16 tackles; followed by Porter Mathews with 12 tackles; Oliver Schluns nine tackles; Tucker Shabram seven tackles; Both Brady Eichelberger and Grady Welke six tackles; Hunter Wilson five tackles; Colton Osborne and Turner Heiss four tackles; Noah Manchester, Maddox Hammerlun, Brody Jakubowski and Ian Yates all three tackles; Drew Morrow, Easton Cook, Westen Kohl and Reece Grosch all two tackles; Hadley Wrede, and Charlie Morrow one tackle each; 91 tackles in total.
