The 56th St. Patrick's Day Celebration is just under two weeks away with the celebration beginning on Tuesday, March, 14 and running until Saturday, March 18. This years theme is "Paint the Town Green." On Wednesday, March 15 the Irish Walk of Fame induction will be held at 5:30 p.m. with the painting of the Shamrock at 6 p.m. and followed by a IWOF pork feed at the Handlebend. The chug run is to follow at 7 p.m. starting at the Golden Hotel with registration to start at 6 p.m. Thursday is the Kevin and Heidi Cheng concert at the community center sponsored by the O'Neill Friends of the Library at 5:30 p.m. On Friday, March, 17 the greening of the pond will occur at 4:30 p.m. at the Carney Park Gil Poese recreational area. The annual dodge ball tournament will be held sponsored by the O'Neill Satellite Rotary Club at 6:30 p.m. The horse greening will begin at 7 p.m. On Saturday March 18 the fun run will begin at 10 a.m.. Registration for the run will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday or 8-9:30 a.m. at the St. Mary's High School Gym. The Irish Dancers perform at noon followed by the coronation of the St. Patrick's King and Queen and then the 2023 parade. The kids carnival will be held at the Evergreen Independent living side. The Husker Hoops will begin at 4 p.m. with the doors to open at 3:15 p.m. sponsored by the O'Neill Lions Club at the O'Neill High School.
