Eagle Softball Go 3-2 On Week

The O'Neill Lady Eagles softball went three and two in last week's play.

In game one last week the Eagles fell to Wayne 3-2.

The Eagles stayed in it until the end, but Wayne pulled away late in a 3-2 victory on Tuesday. The game was tied at two with Wayne batting in the bottom of the sixth when Mackenzie Nissen doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Wayne pitchers struck out eight, while O'Neill Eagles sat down four.

Wayne opened up scoring in the first inning when Delaney Kruse doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

The Eagles knotted the game up at two in the top of the fourth inning when Brooklynn Cahoy tripled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.

Nissen pitched Wayne to victory. The bulldog surrendered zero runs on zero hits over three and third innings, striking out three and walking one.

Ryanne Pistulka went six innings, allowing three runs on five hits, striking out four and walking one.

Sammi Gubbels started the game for Wayne. The fireballer went three and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out five.

The Eagles launched one home run on the day. Emma Smith went for the long ball in the fourth inning.

Harley Cahoy and Smith each managed one hit to lead the Eagles.

In game two last week the Eagles were victorious over Ponca, 6-2.

Smith pitched O'Neill Eagles to victory. The bulldog surrendered two runs on two hits over seven innings, striking out ten.

Kaylie Heiner took the loss for Ponca. The pitcher surrendered six runs on eight hits over six innings, striking out 11 and walking zero.

The Eagles socked one home run on the day. Smith had a dinger in the third inning.

The Eagles collected eight hits on the day. Ava Chohon, Emma Wrede, and Harley Cahoy all had multiple hits for O'Neill Eagles Varsity. Cahoy, Wrede, and Chohon each collected two hits to lead O'Neill Eagles Varsity.

In the next match, the girls overcame Boone Central in the face of an early 3-run inning.

The Eagles weathered a scare by Boone Central in the sixth inning where the Eagles coughed up three runs, but O'Neill still won 8-4. Boone Central scored its runs on a single by Caydence Guthard.

In the first inning, the Eagles got their offense started. Autumn Emme hit into a fielder's choice, scoring one run.

Pistulka took the win for O'Neill Eagles Varsity. Pistulka allowed five hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out eight.

Averie Luettel took the loss for Boone Central. The hurler surrendered eight runs on nine hits over six innings, striking out three and walking zero.

O'Neill tallied nine hits. Smith and Cahoy each managed multiple hits for O'Neill. Cahoy and Smith each collected two hits to lead O'Neill.

In the next match on Saturday, Smith threw a shutout to lead O'Neill Eagles Varsity past Pierce 11-0.

The Eagles secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the third inning. Ava Chohon, Mariana Montes, Ryanne Pistulka, Loretta Scofield, and Autumn Emme all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

The girls got things started in the first inning. Smith drove in two when she singled.

The Eagles tallied seven runs in the third inning. The Eagle's offense in the inning was led by Chohon, Montes, Pistulka, Scofield and Emme, who all drove in runs.

A single by Brooke Reddest in the second inning was a positive for Pierce.

Smith pitched the Eagles to victory. The ace lasted four innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out four.

Lauren Darnall took the loss for Pierce. Darnall surrendered 11 runs on seven hits over three innings, striking out four.

Wrede went 2 for 3 at the plate to lead O'Neill Eagles Varsity in hits. O'Neill Eagles Varsity was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Montes had the most chances in the field with four.

Reddest led Pierce with one hit in one at bats.

In the final game on Saturday the Eagles had a tough time generating runs, dropping their game with NEN 11-1.

NEN scored six runs in the sixth inning. Lillie Timm, Avery Wegner, Taylor Scholting and Camryn Miller all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Emma Krusemark earned the win for NEN. Krusemark lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits and one run while striking out three. Mady Dolliver threw two and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Pistulka took the loss for O'Neill. The bulldog surrendered 11 runs on 11 hits over six innings, striking out six.

The Eagles scattered five hits in the game. Emme and Cahoy all managed multiple hits for O'Neill Eagles Varsity. Cahoy and Emme each managed two hits to lead O'Neill.

NEN collected 11 hits. Paige Schuster, Emma Heller, and Timm all collected multiple hits for NEN. NEN didn't commit a single error in the field. Wegner had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.
