Stuart 5th & 7th Grade Students Attend Kindness & Courage Youth Frontiers Retreats

NIOBRARA — The fifth and seventh grade students from Stuart Public School attended the Youth Frontiers Kindness & Courage Retreats respectively on Aug. 28 at Niobrara Public School.

The event had attendees from Niobrara, Verdigre, Creighton, Chambers, Boyd County, O'Neill, Elgin, Orchard, South Central, Clearwater, Atkinson West Holt, Ewing and Stuart.    

The kindness retreat helped build a more caring school community by engaging students in activities that demonstrated the painful effects of bullying and emphasized the value of kindness. 

Elementary school students experienced the positive effect of the kindness boomerang during a high-energy day with classmates. Students learned that, like the golden rule, if they want to catch kindness, they've got to throw the kindness boomerang out there. 

The courage retreat helped build a more inclusive school community by encouraging students to accept people for who they are, resist following the crowd and acting with moral courage despite their fears.
